of artist think if they just perform, perform, and perform so more that they will some how gain all that there is to achieve as an indie artist. The word hustling is used in the hood as means of getting your business handled or taking care of. I have noticed many artist who really don’t understand “How to Hustle & Win.”

Aside from just doing shows their is other components of your business you need to secure one of which is sales and distribution of your music. When artist begin to realize that the music industry is a business they will see more success and will not just be running around with their heads cut off.

Is there a problem wit the younger generation of Mc’s who are rapping now? Is this the problem why many older MC’s have not chose to stop rapping?

Persistence Or Ignorance

Most Atlanta Music Artist work hard to achieve their dreams of getting a record deal from some major label. The sad part is that most Atlanta Music Artist won’t never see the light of day. Is this due to the ignorance, because most artist don’t really understand how to operate in the music business or run a business. The music business is just that a business, and most artist haven’t ever been to a Harvard Business School. If you know business you might succeed at the music business.

The persistence of most artist to think that hard work alone is going to get you that deal is ludicrous. Artist don’t realize that there are many other factors that play a role in your becoming one rich and famous inside the entertainment industry.

Music School Or Self Taught

photo-3Which is the best type of musician the self taught, or the musically trained musician ? This has been a debate over the years. Many popular artist are not trained musicians. Many popular artist learned to play music play by ear.  Learning music in school was not something I would of like to do. I never attended a music class. I learned how to write songs and produce by ear. So, I fall in line with the many artist who don’t know some of the science behind music, but yet I can create great rap songs to no avail. You will find most artist who are not trained musicians do a lot of hiring others to play on their sets or produce their music for them. What do you think is the best way to be trained or untrained ?

Do You Network wit Atlanta Dj’s

People often ask how do you build relationships with DJ’s. My answer to that is you have to network. Networking is the key to success that many people miss out on. AtlantaDJ’s  are just people like anyone else in this world. Atlanta DJ’s

Dj Cutback Photo

hold the keys to many artist careers, but they are just people. As an artist, you should try to establish a relationship just like if you were trying to get some ass from a chick. You are going to take your time to get to know her until the desired result is achieved. People are more concerned with you caring about them as people. People careless about being a business associates at times. I remember TJ’s DJ’s Owner said “ask me how I’m doing some time”  his point was that he is human just like you. If you get to know people on a personal level they might play your music as a result.

As an independent artist, you are going to have to get some patience when trying to get your music played. It is more about the relationship, then it is about you getting your music played on the radio by someone who don’t know you. A young indie artist needs to understand that people have lives, and do other things outside of their job of playing records. You are going to really need to see that person at least seven to ten times before you start asking about playing your music. Final point, just work on building friends in the business, and if you hang long enough you will meet the cats who will play your music for you.

Is Beats By Dre That Good

What does the word Beats by Dre mean  to you ? I have seen folks all across the Atlanta area wit these expensive head phones. Many folks are feeling and thinking like they are  Dr. Dre the N.W. A legend. The average price for these head phone range any where from the low end of one hundred seventy nine dollars to four hundred dollars. I had a chance to stick my head into the product, and notice that the sound quality was pretty cool, but it wasn’t anything that you couldn’t get wit a quality mix and master. So, the question I have is are “Beats By Dre”all that or is it the marketing machine that has folks spending upwards of four hundred dollars to get these head phones ?

I think you can get a good pair of head phones for about eighty bucks, and still get some pretty good sound out of those head phones. I often wonder are we being bamboozled by the big money marketing machines that brought this to the market.
